From Parcel to Finished Product: A Client Unveils a Passive Solar Home in Sisters
A year and a half after I sold a city lot in Sisters to a couple from Eugene, they unveiled the finished product: a beautiful two-story Passive Solar home incorporating the so-called Passive House concepts. Here’s a closer look inside. Continue reading
I’ve Got the Broker Tour Blues
Yesterday, I should’ve been making the rounds viewing new listings on our Sisters’ Broker Tour. Alas, we didn’t have one — there weren’t enough new listings to make it worth our while. You’d think that everyone would realize the benefits of the broker tour, but apparently that isn’t the case. Continue reading

Lessons from a Blind Dog
This is Mariah, our supposedly temporarily adopted Chocolate lab. As you can see, she’s a real sweetheart, but she does have her issues. For one, she’s diabetic. She’s also blind. Mariah, bless her heart, doesn’t know she’s blind. In fact, she lives lift to the fullest. Continue reading
Tumalo, Oregon Real Estate Market Report for March 2012
In March, the Tumalo Residential With Acreage real estate market was all about price. On the one hand, you have more and more high-end listings being added (the most popular price point in March was $850,000-$899,999). However, when it comes to what sold in March, it’s still the low end of the price spectrum that is the most active. Continue reading

Yo! Bend-based Frozen Yogurt Sensation ‘Cuppa Yo’ Opens in Sisters
Downtown Sisters has waited for, it seems, forever for Cuppa Yo to open (at 281 W. Cascade). For a while there, we wondered if the wildly popular Bend-based buy-by-the-ounce frozen-yogurt bar would ever open its doors. Well, today at 2 p.m., the new shop finally served its first cup of Yo (which is crafted from Portland-based YoCream), and by 3 p.m., the place was packed. Continue reading
The Huffington Post Travels to Central Oregon
They call it a “Guide to Central Oregon,” which is a bit of a stretch — it’s way too brief for that. But the Huffington Post’s new HuffPost Travel article by Meg Hemphill does capture the essence of what so many folks love about the High Desert: that sense of adventure, whether it be in terms of outdoor activities or fine dining (both popular pastimes in these parts). Continue reading
